The chalet
Beautiful characterful two floored apartment with spectacular views. With sloping wood ceilings, a huge balcony, a fireplace and an open-style kitchen/living area with a dining table for 10 it is the ideal base for family or group skiing. We have WiFi, tv (with Canal+) DVD player, nespresso machine, raclette, private ski locker etc. Also free access to shared pool, sauna, steam room in the chalets des neiges development in which we are situated etc.
The chalet occupies the fifth and sixth floors of 'Pic Blanc' building (with lift) facing the slopes,. You can ski directly into and out of the building and store your skis in our lockable ‘cave’.
The chalet sleeps 10-12 in four bedrooms (plus sofa beds if necessary).
On the first level there is a double bedroom with ensuite shower and two twin rooms (one with ensuite shower).
Upstairs there is a bedroom for 4 with two twin beds and two mezzaine bunks - perfect for a family of four or as a 'kids' room. This room has an ensuite shower and toilet. There is an additional bathroom and separate WC downstairs.
There are three sofa beds in the living room. (Therefore there are actually 13 beds, but we advise the chalet is most comfortable with up to 10).
Assistance in the resort
We have a superb manager in the resort (french and English speaking) who can help with any issue you may have. He also works in the local ski hire shop and extends a discount to guests.
THE APARTMENT IS PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED AND DISINFECTED BETWEEN EACH GUEST
Getting there
The chalet is approximately 9 hours drive from Calais. Nearest airports are Grenoble, Lyon, Geneva.
We provide extensive instructions regarding access to the resort upon booking.

The ski area
Exceptionally well located for skiing (ski in and out) this apartment is also within 2 mins walk/ski of the ski school meeting place, nursery slopes, shops (incl ski hire), supermarket, ski school office, crèche (up to age 6), tourist office and two fast queue-free gondolas into the huge Grandes Domaines (Alpes d'Huez) ski area.
Oz en Oisans has its own ESF (next door to the chalet) and a children’s ski area as well as nursery slopes with ‘magic carpet’ and drag lift. It is a superb place to learn as everything is very close by. For intermediate and advanced skiers the massive ski area affords access to varied terrain with extensive pistes for all abilities. The area boasts a snow-sure glacier, from which black run skiers can descend via the very testing ‘tunnel’ run or La Sarenne - the longest black run in Europe.
The access to the ‘grandes domaines’ from Oz is very quick - rarely are there queues and the two gondolas meet with cable cars to get you high up in minimum time.
The summer
Also fantastic for walking and cycling (both mountain and road) in the summer. The lifts open July and August and there are many organised activities. Many famous cols can be reached directly (Col de la Galibier, Croix de fer) and, of course, the famous 21 hair pins up to Alpes d'huez. Bikes are easily hired in Bourg d'Oisans. This is an ideal base for cyclists competing in Alpes d'Huzes race, Marmotte and an ideal base from which to watch the Tour de France in the years it goes to Alpes d'Huez.
Also wonderful in the summer: glacier walking, via ferrata, canoeing, canyoning, lake swimming near Bourg D’Oisans. The tourist centre next to the Poutrans lift can help you arrange any of this and book professional guides.
Mountain Bike championships take place in Oz so there is some extremely challenging terrain and jumps - not to mention the famous 'Megavalanche' race for the highly experienced. A more gentle introduction to mountain biking is also available :)
Families
This charming resort is car free so this is an ideal location for families. The entire village is skiable in winter (ie you can ski through the town centre!).
Oz has its own ESF (bookable on-line) and other ski schools and fantastic kids' activities (including weekly kids' torchlight descent). There is a crèche in the village and a ski garden for the smallest skiers!
The chalet has a cot, booster seat and plastic tableware available.
Dogs
We are dog friendly in the summer - dogs are permitted on gondolas and in mountain restaurants.
